CEZANNE SMOOTHING TREATMENT

A professional smoothing treatment designed to improve manageability without permanently straightening the hair, allowing you to keep your natural texture while reducing frizz, and enhancing shine.

The Cezanne Smoothing Treatment is a 100% formaldehyde-freesmoothing system and does not contain parabens, phthalates, or carcinogens.

Results typically last up to 5 months with the Classic treatment and up to 8 weeks with the Express treatment.

Not sure if this is right for you?
If you deal with frizz, humidity, or spend time styling your hair daily, this is typically the service that changes that.

Results may vary depending on hair type, previous chemical services, and home care.

ABOUT THE CEZANNE SMOOTHING TREATMENT

Cezanne’s TRI-Fusion Smoothing Technology is a breakthrough formula designed to smooth the cuticle, elongate curls, and strengthen hair—all while being safe for colour-treated hair, including blondes.

Key Ingredients & Benefits:
Vegan Glyoxylic Acid

A vegan, formaldehyde-free ingredient that enhances manageability without damage, creating new cross-links within the hair shaft for long-lasting smoothness.
Hydrolyzed Keratin
Rebuilds the hair’s natural protective layer from the inside out, increasing tensile strength and strand diameter for hair that feels thicker and healthier.
Hydrolyzed Quinoa
A complete protein with 17 amino acids (including 8 essential) that penetrate the hair shaft for enhanced protection. Its film-forming properties shield hair from environmental stressors.
Vitamins & Botanicals
A nourishing blend that includes argan oil, tocopherol, olive fruit oil, aloe vera leaf juice, sugar cane, apple and green tea extracts, and meadowfoam seed oil.

WHY CHOOSE CEZANNE?

Strengthens Hair
The low pH technology restores bonds broken by thermal, mechanical, or high pH services, reinforcing hair structure and health

Safe for Color-Treated Hair (Including Blondes!)
Unlike some smoothing treatments, Cezanne won't strip or alter hair colour and is gentle on blonde hair, preventing brassiness or unwanted tonal changes.

Hair can be washed, styled, and tied up right after the treatment, making it a convenient option for any lifestyle.

Not sure which treatment is right for you? We’re happy to guide you.

All treatments will reduce frizz and deliver smoother and more manageable hair.

The main difference is how the product is applied and the longevity of the treatments.

The Classic treatment can last up to 5 months and
The Express treatment can last up to 8 weeks.

POST-TREATMENT

There is no waiting period

The treatment can be done on the same day as your colour service.

This means you can work out, swim, wash your hair, use hair pins, tuck your hair behind your ears, and wear hair ties immediately after the treatment.

To maintain results, we recommend using a sulfate-free shampoo to keep hair smooth and frizz-free for longer.

Most clients notice their hair feels ‘done’ even on days they do less.

THE PROCESS

    1. Shampooing
Your hair is washed twice with a clarifying shampoo to remove any product buildup, oils, and impurities, ensuring the treatment can penetrate effectively.

    2. Rough Blowdry
After shampooing, your hair is dried quickly without focusing on perfect smoothness.

    3. Application of the Classic Smoothing Treatment
The Cezanne smoothing treatment is applied evenly throughout your hair and left on to process for 30 minutes.

    4. Rinsing
The excess treatment product is rinsed out of your hair.

    5. Heat Protectant and Blow Dry
A heat protectant spray is applied to shield your hair from heat damage, followed by the blow dry to smooth it out.

    6. Flat Ironing
Your hair is flat ironed to lock in the treatment, sealing the cuticle for a smooth, shiny, and healthy finish.

    1. Shampooing
Your hair is washed twice with a clarifying shampoo to remove any product buildup, oils, and impurities, ensuring the treatment can penetrate effectively.

    2. Application of the Express Smoothing Treatment
The Cezanne Express Treatment is applied evenly throughout your hair wet and left on to process for 15 minutes.

    3. Rinsing
The excess treatment product is rinsed out of your hair.

    4. Heat Protectant and Blow Dry
A heat protectant spray is applied to shield your hair from heat damage, followed by the blow dry to smooth it out.

    5. Flat Ironing
Your hair is flat ironed to lock in the treatment, sealing the cuticle for a smooth, shiny, and healthy finish.

THE RESULTS?

In both cases, the treatment doesn’t break or permanently change your hair’s structure.

Instead, it creates a lightweight, flexible layer around each strand that:
• Smooths the cuticle
• Reduces frizz and puffiness
• Enhances shine
• Makes styling easier

Over time, this layer gradually fades, allowing your hair to return to its natural state.

HOW DOES A CEZANNE TREATMENT WORK?

Cezanne works by smoothing and sealing the outer layer of the hair (the cuticle) to reduce frizz, enhance shine, and improve manageability.

To visualize it, think ig your hair like an elastic band.

Classic Smoothing Treatment
With the Classic treatment, the hair is blow-dried smoothing and stretched—like a taut elastic band.

The Cezanne formula is then applied, processed, rinsed and sealed into the hair using heat.
As it processes, it forms a flexible coating around the hair locking in that smoother, more controlled shape.

This is what gives you the most frizz reduction and the smoothest overall result, while still maintaining natural movement.

Express Smoothing Treatment
With the Express option, the hair is not stretched as tightly—more like a relaxed elastic band.

The treatment is still applied and sealed, but because the hair’s natural pattern isn’t pulled straight during the process, more of your natural wave or curl is preserved.

The result is softer frizz control with a more natural, lived-in texture.

CLASSIC vs EXPRESS TREATMENT

Which treatment should I book?

We’ll help guide you, but there’s a quick way to understand the difference.

Both treatments smooth and reduce frizz.
The difference is how much smoothing you want and how long you want it to last.

The Classic treatment can last up to 5 months and
The Express treatment can last up to 8 weeks.

  • Ideal for those with previous keratin smoothing treatments

  • You want maximum frizz reduction

  • Great if you prefer wearing your hair wavy or curly most of the time

  • Want to keep your natural wave or curl

  • You prefer a more lived-in finish

  • You want the frizz control without flattening your curl texture

Frequently Asked Questions

Before you book… These are the questions that are most frequently asked in our chairs.

  • No—when performed professionally, Cezanne is not considered a damaging service.

It does not break or permanently alter the internal bonds of the hair. Instead, it works on the cuticle to smooth and seal.

The formula also contains a plant-based protein that helps support the hair’s strength and overall feel.

That said, regular trims are still essential for maintaining healthy hair.

  • No. Cezanne is formaldehyde-free and does not release harsh chemical fumes.

You may see a light mist or steam during the service—this is simply the product being sealed into the hair, not fumes.

This makes it a much cleaner, more modern alternative to traditional smoothing treatments.

  • The flat iron finished after the treatment is rinsed and blow-dried is controlled and typically lower than what most people use at home.

    • In-salon for the treatment: ~340°F–380°F

    • At home: often 400°F–450°F

The hair is passed through the flat iron several times (five passes), but each pass is quick and controlled, not slow or excessive.
The temperature of the flat iron is determined based on natural hair texture.

For most clients, this is actually less heat exposure than their regular styling routine.

  • The product is applied close to the root, but not directly onto the scalp.

Because it is a liquid formula, a small amount may come into contact with the scalp.

Some clients may experience mild sensitivity (such as slight itching), which typically resolves once the treatment is rinsed.

  • Yes—Cezanne can be a great option for fine hair, this treatment is not just limited for thick or coarse hair.

Because it works on the outer layer of the hair, it smooths frizz without permanently changing your natural texture.

  • A professional smoothing treatment designed to reduce frizz, enhance shine, and make your hair significantly easier to manage—without permanently straightening it.

Think: your natural texture, just smoother, softer, and more controlled.

  • Cezanne works by smoothing and sealing the outer layer of the hair (cuticle), not changing the internal structure.

Think of your hair like an elastic band:
We’re not changing what’s inside—we’re smoothing and sealing the outside so it behaves better.

This creates a lightweight, flexible layer that:

    • Reduces frizz and puffiness

    • Enhances shine

    • Improves manageability

Over time, this layer gradually fades, allowing your hair to return to its natural state.

    • Noticeably less frizz

    • Faster, easier styling

    • Softer, shinier hair

    • Better control in humidity

Most clients feel like their hair is “done” with minimal effort.

  • For the Classic Treatment: Around 4 months
For the Express Treatment: Around 8 weeks

Depending on your hair type and at-home care.

    Using sulphate-free shampoo is recommended.

  • Yes. Cezanne is compatible with colour-treated, highlighted, and lightened hair.

It’s a great option if you want smoother hair without compromising your colour.

  • This depends on your hair and your colour goals—there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

    • Brunettes / single-process colour: Typically done before to enhance shine and richness.

    • Blondes (foils, bleach, high-lift): Typically done after to maintain brightness and tone.

  • Yes—and in many cases, it’s recommended.

Cezanne pairs well with colour services and can be done in the same appointment to enhance shine and smoothness.

Haircuts can also be done during the same visit to refine the final shape.

  • Cezanne smooths the outer layer of the hair to reduce frizz and enhance shine, but it does not add oil or residue to the hair.

  • Think of your hair like an elastic band:

Classic (Maximum Smoothing): hair is stretched smooth → more frizz reduction and a sleeker finish

Express (Soft Smoothing): hair stays more relaxed → softer frizz control while keeping natural texture

Same treatment, different finish—customized to how you wear your hair.

  • Classic
    Best if you want:

    • Maximum frizz reduction

    • A smoother, more polished finish

    • Less daily styling

    Result: smooth, controlled, low-maintenance hair.

    Express
    Best if you want:

    • To keep your natural wave or curl

    • A softer, more natural finish

    • Light frizz control

Result: more defined, manageable natural texture.

Not sure which to choose? Book Classic.
We can adjust your service in-salon.

  • None.

You can wash your hair, tie it up, and resume your normal routine immediately.

  • Approximately 2-3 hours depending on your hair length, density, and texture.

  • Yes and No.

Blow dries are faster, frizz is reduced, and your hair holds styles better with less effort.

If you prefer to air dry your hair, you’ll notice a smoother, more controlled finish with less frizz and a more defined natural texture.
Even your air-dry days look intentional

  • Absolutely.

Your hair will style more smoothly and hold hot tool curls better, with less frizz and more shine.

Because the treatment helps resist humidity, your curls and waves are less likely to fall or lose their shape quickly.

  • Cezanne does not remove your curl pattern, but it will relax and soften it.

Your curls will appear smoother, more defined, and less frizzy—especially in humidity.

    What can I expect?

    • Reduced frizz and puffiness

    • Softer, more manageable curls

    • More definition with less effort

    • Easier styling and detangling

    The key thing to understand:
Your curl pattern will still be there—but it may feel slightly looser and more elongated depending on the level of smoothing.

We customize between the Classic and Express smoothing options based on how much of your natural curl you want to keep.

  • This is what we at NOOK salon have noticed:

    Loose waves (2A–2C)

    • Waves appear smoother and more polished

    • Less frizz and puffiness

    • More definition with less effort

    • Easier air-drying with a more “intentional” finish

Result: soft, controlled waves that look styled—even when they’re not.

    Curly hair (3A–3C)

    • Curls become softer and more elongated

    • Reduced frizz and bulk

    • Easier detangling and styling

    • More definition with less effort

Result: smoother, more manageable curls with a softer overall shape.

    The key thing to understand:
Your texture will still be there—but it may feel slightly looser depending on the level of smoothing.

  • This is what we at NOOK salon have noticed:

Cezanne can be done on coily hair, but it will soften natural pattern.

Because tighter textures have more structure, the result will be a looser, more elongated curl pattern.

    What can I expect?

    • Noticeably reduced shrinkage

    • Softer, more elongated coils

    • Easier detangling and styling

    • Less frizz and more manageability

    The key thing to understand

This is not a curl-preserving service for tighter textures.
Your natural pattern will still be present, but it will appear looser and less compact.

    Who is this best for?

    • Clients who want easier manageability

    • Those who regularly stretch, blow dry, or silk press their hair

    • Anyone looking to reduce shrinkage and styling time

We’ll always consult with you first to make sure the result aligns with how you like to wear your hair.

  • Using sulfate-free products will help extend the life of your treatment.

We’ll recommend the best options for your hair.

  • Ideal if you:

    • Struggle with frizz or humidity

    • Want smoother hair without losing your natural texture

    • Spend a lot of time styling your hair

    • Want a more low-maintenance routine

  • If you’re looking for:

    • Completely straight, flat hair

    • Maximum texture removal

A different straightening service may be more suitable.

  • Cezanne is not typically done as a root touch-up service.

Because the treatment works by smoothing and sealing the entire hair strand, applying it only at the roots would create an uneven result between the new growth and the previously treated hair.

  • Even if your ends still feel smooth, they’ve naturally experienced wear over time.

    Refreshing the full length ensures:

    • Consistent texture from root to ends

    • Even frizz control throughout the hair

    • A seamless, polished finish

While your ends may still feel smooth, we typically recommend refreshing the full length to keep the result even and consistent.

  • It’s normal to notice a subtle scent after your treatment.

This comes from the smoothing ingredients and proteins used during the service, which can be more noticeable when the hair is exposed to heat or moisture (like after washing or styling).

The scent is temporary and will gradually fade after a few washes.

If anything smells unusually strong or persists, feel free to reach out—we’re always happy to take a look.

  • Yes—but extensions must be removed prior to the service.

The treatment cannot be properly applied or sealed at the points of attachment, and heat cannot safely be used over them.

Leaving extensions in during the service can lead to uneven results and may compromise both the treatment and the extensions.

For best results, the treatment is performed on natural hair only.

  • Yes—Cezanne can be done on a recurring basis.

Most clients return every 5-6 months, depending on how long they like to maintain their results.

  • This is a question we get a lot.

    For Classic:
Every 5–6 months: for clients who want smoother hair year-round and is ideal for consistent, long-term smoothing (year-round maintenance).

    For Express:
Perfect for short-term smoothing, like trips or special occasions or events, vacations, or seasonal humidity.

Many clients incorporate this into their routine to keep their hair consistently smooth, manageable, and low-maintenance throughout the year.

  • Yes—you can alternate between Classic and Express depending on your needs and lifestyle.

Many clients choose a stronger smoothing option during more humid months, and a lighter option when they want to keep more natural texture.

    How does that usually look?
Classic: ideal for high humidity seasons (like summer) when maximum frizz control is needed
Express: great for lower humidity months or when you want a softer, more natural finish

    The key thing to know
The best option depends on your hair type, how you wear your hair, and how much smoothing you prefer at the time.
